Misting
What pests do misting systems target?
Our misting systems can extinguish various problem-causing pests, including flies, ticks, and fleas, but we primarily focus on mosquitoes. Remember that they carry illnesses transmitted to humans through bites, such as malaria, dengue, chikungunya, zika, and yellow fever. Fleas and ticks can cause much trouble for humans and our furry friends. In humans, they can cause skin irritation and itching and carry the previously mentioned diseases that can be extremely harmful. Ticks can transmit diseases like Lyme disease, and mountain spotted fever and cause symptoms such as joint pain, anemia, and fever. If you or your pet come in contact with them, be sure to wash the area and monitor for any symptoms of illness. With Raptor Misting, you will find a safe and effective solution to control pests in outdoor areas.
How do I choose the right system for my needs?
The ideal mosquito misting system for your outdoor space will provide a consistent repelling infrastructure. While still keeping you, your pets, and your plants safe, the combination of water with insecticide creates a fine mist that covers all your outdoor space and kills any flying insects that come into contact.
It can be customized to your specific needs and with different spray schedules. It is perfect for keeping flies out of your barn or eliminating mosquitoes that ruin your perfect pool day.
When deciding which misting system suits your needs, you must consider some factors. First, you should measure the area size you want to cover. A larger area will need a bigger unit with a more powerful pump.
Next, consider the type of pests you want to eliminate, as different solutions work better for determined species. You’ll want to evaluate the cost of the system, the insecticide, and maintenance costs, plus an estimate of the total installation cost. Also, consider your preferences and choose a system with a customization level that allows you to have the flexibility you desire.
It is essential to do the necessary research and compare existing models to find the one that is the best fit for your outdoor space. Contact us for expert help!
How often does the system need to spray?
This will depend on factors like mosquito activity, species, environmental conditions, system type, and settings. It is essential to follow the instructions to adjust the settings and schedule depending on the specific needs of your outdoor space and the plants or animals within it.
An everyday schedule comprises three scheduled mists per day. First, a 45-second mist in the hours around dawn, another 45-second mist around dusk, and a third 45-second mist between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM.
When the pest is most active, spraying more than three times daily for the mist to make contact and attack the pest is recommended. This is usually in the early morning and a few hours before sunset. Automated mists ideally should be timed to occur when there is unlikely to be any outdoor activity or daylight activity of beneficial insects like bees and butterflies.
When do I schedule misting cycles?
(Each property may vary slightly depending on location and the surrounding environment.)
Mosquito Control: Set your system to mist for 45 seconds at dawn, dusk, and an hour after dusk.
No-See-Um Control: In addition to the mosquito mists, add mists for 15-30 seconds every 30 minutes after sunset
Fly Control: Set the system to mist 10-12 times for 30 seconds in peak sun hours. (Ex. 8am, 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm)
What kind of maintenance is required?
Like any other system, a misting system requires regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance, results, and longevity. The solution tank should be regularly cleaned, and if the concentrate fluid it’s running low, the unit should be refilled with water or concentrate to prevent clogs and ensure the misting nozzles are working correctly.
It is also essential to check for any leaks in the system to prevent wasting the insecticide. The filter should be replaced every few months, and the tubing must get checked for wear and tear and replaced if necessary. Remember to keep the system’s remote control panel clean and debris-free to ensure proper functioning.
After this, you can run an inspection cycle to check the system for anything unusual. Check for pressure, proper misting at each nozzle, and inspect the lines for leaks. By following these recommendations and guidelines, your Raptor Misting System will continue providing effective mosquito control for longer.
Nozzles, Fittings and Tubing
Will you help me plan out my Misting System Installation?
Yes, please email your address to sales@raptormisting.com along with the area you would like to protect (Backyard, Front and Backyard, etc.), and we can tell you where to install the tubing and nozzles.
How far apart do I put the nozzles?
On average, nozzles should be placed every 12 feet.
How high up do I put the nozzles?
Nozzles should be placed anywhere from 2-14 feet high. Mosquitoes typically like to fly ground level to 6 feet high, so it's important for nozzles to target this range and to avoid drift. Nozzles are typically installed on the first story eve of a house and along the fence line.
How many nozzles can I put on a system?
The Standard Raptor Misting System can support up to 65 nozzles.
The Raptor Patio Mist System can cover 200 linear feet and support up to 18 Nozzles
What type of fittings do you use?
We use Premium grade Nickel-Plated Brass unions with Push-In fittings for 1/4 tubing and nozzle adaptors. Camozzi fittings use all metal Collet and Release Ring design for greater grip strength and easy removal versus typical “bite-rings” found in comparable fittings.
What kind of tubing do you use?
1/4″ Nylon Tubing, UV protected for direct sunlight application.
Pump and Motor
What kind of pump and motor does the system use?
The Standard Raptor System uses a 140 gph pump and a ½ HP Motor for superior power to provide a strong mist.
